Keryx Prison Ministrycross and bars

Keryx is a lay led, non-profit, inter-denominational, Christian based prison ministry using the Cursillo method, designed to be conducted in any correctional institution without substantive change in format or procedure.

The purpose of Keryx Prison Ministry is the Christianization of the correctional institution through the actions of small apostolic prayer support groups of prison residents, trained and encouraged by Keryx volunteers, working within their environment.

Keryx Is Now at Collins

Keryx weekends and weekly meetings were on hold for over two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic followed by the permanent closing of Gowanda Correctional Facility. After much prayer and discernment, in consultation with Department of Corrections administration, the Keryx ministry has restarted at the adjacent Collins Correctional Facility. There is already a long-established prison ministry on side 2 of Collins: Collins Christian Ministry (CCM). However, now Keryx can fill an unmet need on Collins side 1. Volunteers have begun faith sharing meetings with a small number of incarcerated individuals.

Update

Praise God! The Keryx one-day retreat on November 2 at Collins Correctional Facility was a powerful experience for the candidates. And a large number of supporters came out for the Holy Hour and fence serenade, including former Gowanda Keryx participants Joe (who gave a testimonial) and Jim (Seamus).

The Keryx 3 retreat will be held April 16-19, 2024 (Wednesday-Thursday-Friday).
